THANKS to all of you who supplied these unsolicited comments on your stay …. Joe & Patricia

It’s a patch of earth that pretty much has it all … if you appreciate the grandeur of mountains, desert, and a dry climate – except when it snows. Like I’ve coined the phrase, “There’s only one … Sunriver®”.
Patricia created this wordle that illustrates what we mean:

Just back from a mini-vacation at 11 Ashwood … rode Phil’s Trail, canoe-floated the Deschutes (twice), fished, BBQ’d salmon, and the obligatory visit to the Second Tern. All good!
Sunriver is undergoing major renovations, and they are all coming along quickly – and for the molto bene:
– bike paths repaved – fresh, asphalt paths for a smooth ride;
– Village Shops – great facelifts, the general store is clean and well-stocked, with wider aisles and improved everything; and
– the SHARC – a brand new recreational center with swimming pool, meandering stream, and other stuff to do – it’s moving swiftly and will be open by spring 2012.
Great to see the progress! Get there soon for your fix of Central Oregon’s beauty and fun.

this place is fantastico, no matter when you are here! Even with 21st century forecasting gear, the weather people got it wrong this weekend … supposed snowy/rainy cold dreary days have all been bright and varied and decent. The roads have been clear, too — we even took a bike ride today (face froze, but paths were clear and dry). Here’s a pic of the day’s end, overlooking the “great meadow” and golf course to the west of the resort, towards the Cascade range … there’s only one … Sunriver®!

This is a safe and easy way to explore the area - great fun on the water!

We rediscovered the rugged splendor of Central Oregon’s east side of the Cascades in 2004. What an amazing stretch of American soil, from Mt. Shasta to Bend and on to the Columbia River! This website is all about visiting Sunriver, a vacation resort destination just south of Bend, tucked beside the fabled Deschutes River. As we say, “there’s only one … Sunriver®” and you can count on it!

By “we” I mean Patricia and Joe, owners of 11 Ashwood in Sunriver, a nice cabin-like house with all the creature comforts needed to enjoy the great outdoors without sleeping on the ground or getting ants in your pants.

By “rediscovered” I mean that I was first in the Sunriver area in 1977, after a trip to Mt. Bachelor for skiing. Only decades later did we take a trip and find out how much there is for the outdoors enthusiast — we fell hard for this place, and are now glad to share it with you.

Whether you’re a fly fisherman, a skier, a kayaker, a birder, a stargazer, or a spelunker, we welcome you! Enjoy the experience ….
